Well, they started out undercutting everyone's prices to drive them out of business, but the company had enough capital to survive not making a profit for more than 10 years and the burst of the internet bubble. (I imagine the executives were rewarded handsomely throughout, but that's capitalism for ya!) Now, the company seems to not be too evil, but you really must think before you buy.
